MosewaMosa Fashion Show

Hellooooooo Dolls....

So about a month ago I attended the MosewaMosa Fashion show.

Hidden away in a classic old school warehouse in the middle of town is a Mecca of designer gowns fit for the rich and famous…  No really…. Samuel Jackson was there minutes before the fashion show to have a fitting done.

The Brainchild of this international brand Mosa Mokuena, a Free state born, down to earth, petite lady with a large personality seems unfazed by the attainment of her creations.

A creamy wave of satin and chiffon these conceptions are nothing less than red carpet adornments.

Some of the gorgeous models.

As you can see I fitted right in with the catwalk queens.

The Murder of Norman Ware

Hellooooo Dolls,

Of  Book launches, Booze and bad behaviour.

2 Weeks ago some learnered, wine drinking, bookworm dolls excitedly attended the Launch of “The Murder of Norman Ware”.

This launch was a little different to the star studded autobiographies of broke socialite celebs, blowing their own horns, that we had grown accustomed to... yes Kelly Khumalo, I’m talking to you.

This novel was written by an actual Author, Rosamund Kendal. The Durban girl studied medicine and was a practicing doctor for 5 years before deciding she needed a hobby. She Then studied Creative writing, achieved her masters and started writing and has been writing ever since. Her previous novels are The Angina Monologues and The Karma Suture.

Some of us battle to ace one career but not this superwoman who is also a mother and wife.

The Murder of Norman Ware is her third novel and is set on the wealthy and spunky San le Mer Golfing eco-estate in KZN.

The storyline centres around the murder of the sugary sweet character, advocate Norman Ware. As the story unfolds the twist is in the involvement of the occupants of the estate… including Norman Ware himself. All I can say is I luuuurve me a good Murder Mystery.

Zwai Bala -Play that music shoot featuring Magesh

Hello Dolls,

On a very warm Sunday after a torturous Saturday night for some, the Porcelain Dolls headed off to shoot Zwai Bala’s music video.

So Hung-over Doll, Gastro doll and Migraine doll all loaded themselves and their various ailments into the Doll-mobiel and headed off to set bearing our prospective crosses.

On arrival, we were warmly greeted by Monde Jack Hustler Dube, director and producer and his lovely dreadlocked PA cum lady and were told that the divas of the day,

Zwai and Magesh AKA Tokollo had not yet arrived. Mmm somehow this announcement surprises me less and less with each shoot we do.

With a good couple of hours spent lazing in the sun doing, hair, makeup and nails it left plenty of time to bond with the megalomaniac make-up artist. I mean, I fully understand

That it’s your job to make me pretty but if I help you out a little to make me beautiful then we both win, right? Apparently not.

To make-up artists out there, please realize and understand that my face may be your pallet but it’s my brand. I own this shit!!

Anyhoo when Zwai and Magesh finally showed face, the shooting started and low and behold our erm…. Pleasant surprise when it became a family affair. Yes we were honoured with an audience of Melanie Son (Bala), 2 mini Bala’s and Magesh’s plus one. Awks. Especially when one particular doll was faced with the daunting task of…. Going under water.

Now only those who were there can fully understand the trauma this entailed and to have a semi famous audience. The sponsored Hoochies were devoured in the same breath that had been lost beneath the water’s surface.

Finally we moved to the Elegantly styled The Sands for the second half of the shooting. Disguised as an all-white birthday party our set was ready for us.  Alas the troublesome Magesh refused to comply to the colour theme and after much negotiation was finally allowed in, to which he descended into a dark corner and proceeded to finish what he’d started with a bottle of voddies. My hero!!!

His plus one, Lord bless her soul, had the dolls in stitches with her humour. Lovely lady. We slowly sipped our drinks and wondered what was to happen next.

Though this was the perfect setting for an awesome party, I won’t lie and say it was eventful. The highlight however was a certain models (Not Doll) drunken advances on the poor star of the Music video who spent most of the evening running from this anti-panti man-eater. Ah the joys of being a schleb in a country of strong go-getter women who refuse to take ‘no’ for an answer… except of course in the boardroom.

Look out for the video guys.
